OCTOBER CHILDREN’S EVENTS
AT CUMBERLAND COUNTY LIBRARY

Date: Tuesday, October 5th
Time: 6:30 PM for 3-8 year olds
9-14 year olds are invited to come at 7:30 PM

October is Communicate with your Kid Month and the library program for Tuesday, October 5 will focus on Genealogy and how we come to have our names and to talk about parents and grandparents. The Kids Family Tree Book by Caroline Leavitt is the inspiration for activities that evening.

Date: Tuesday, October 19th
Time: 6:30 PM for 3-8 year olds
9-14 year olds are invited to come at 7:30 PM

Computer Night at the Library will happen once each month. Younger children are invited to bring their moms and dads and who knows what they will learn from each other. We will be discussing upcoming events (Ghost Story Night, Mad Hatter Tea Party, and Scrapbooking) and ways we will use the computer to help us make them better. Our craft will include instruction on making computer print outs of invitations for the tea party and a ghostly card to give to a friend.

Date: Tuesday, October 26th
Time: 6:30 PM for 3-8 year olds
9-14 year olds are invited to come at 7:30 PM

Tonight is Ghost Story Night at the Cumberland County Library. Nothing is too spooky for our younger readers at 6:30. We will play a ghostly game, read a ghostly picture book or two and make a fun craft at the end. At 7:30 however, the lights will go down, the R. L. Stine story will be read and the Goosebumps may just rise up on your arms. Come prepared with your imagination!

Date: Saturday, October 30th
Time: 10 AM

Many libraries in this region have highlighted World War II memorabilia this past month. As a part of our world culture study Cumberland County Library will look at Poland’s geography and culture both as it pertained to World War II and in general. We will listen to Poland’s famous composer, Chopin, read a short fairy story from Poland and sample a pierogie. All ages are encouraged to meet and share ideas while we learn about the contributions from this country when we celebrate Polish American Month.
