1/4/2011 - 4-H Winter Camp this weekend
4-H Teen Council members will attend 4-H Winter Camp this weekend, January 7-9, 2011 at the Lindley G. Cook 4-H Camp in Branchville, New Jersey.
This three-day teen camping program provides a triple educational experience for 4-H’ers by combining leadership training, recreation activities and outdoor sports.
Recreational activities will include sledding, ice-skating, archery and ping-pong. Many hiking trails run through the camp, which is nestled in the center of Stokes State Forest.
Teens learn about food preparation as they prepare and serve five meals during the weekend. Get acquainted and group interaction activities are planned for Friday evening. Workshops focusing on team building, problem solving and creative arts are scheduled for Saturday. A campfire and stargazing are planned for Saturday evening.
All 4-H campers are active members of Cumberland’s 4-H Teen Council. Teens attending
4-H Winter Camp are: Marshall Andersen, Tabitha Camp, Collee n & Meagan Curry, Kristina Davis, Bill Dayoc, Katie Dobrosky, Ashley Jacobs, Silvana Jester, Heather Koering, Samantha Mason, Samantha Newkirk, Ian Parr, Hannah Ricci, Rachel Rottkamp, Brittany Weir and Burgandy Westfield.
4-H leaders Linda Costello of Port Elizabeth and Kurt Bergen and Steve Peterson of Vineland will serve as counselors for the weekend.
Council members will return to Cumberland County by chartered bus and arrive at the 4-H Center in Rosenhayn by 3:30 PM on Sunday, January 9.
The 4-H Youth Development Program of Rutgers Cooperative Extension, a unit of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, is open to all youth in grades K-13 (one year out of high school) regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
