Upper Deerfield Environmental Commission To Lead
Clean-Up At Wildlife Nature Preserve

Members of the Upper Deerfield Township Environmental Commission invite the community to join a group of volunteers that will be cleaning up the Upper Deerfield Township Wildlife Nature Preserve on Saturday, March 24, 2012.

Clean-Up At Wildlife Nature PreserveThe clean-up will begin at 9 a.m., when the group will meet in the parking area behind the Upper Deerfield Midget Football field at 64 Old Burlington Road.

We hope to clear away a couple of tons of debris that’s scattered throughout the woods,” said Steve Smith, a member of the Upper Deerfield Environmental Commission who is organizing the event.

The Cumberland County Improvement Authority will provide gloves and bags for workers plus containers for the huge quantity of trash that needs to be removed.

The clean-up will target the piles of trash that have accumulated in the natural area behind the football field, formerly the Munyon farm.

Many hands will be welcome to get this tough job done, the Environmental Commission said. Community members are encouraged to join Boy Scouts from Troop 98, Girl Scouts from Troop 53359 and several dozen students from Bridgeton High School’s Environmental Club and Service Learning group to clean up the area that day.
