9/20/2012 - County Library Bus Trip - PA Renaissance Faire

Coach Bus Trip to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire from the Cumberland County Library

Enjoy storyline shows, stage shows, royal performers and children’s shows. Each weekend showcases an exciting theme.  The weekend of October 27 highlights Halloween Daze and Spooky Knights at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire.

Come join the Halloween Daze and Spooky Knights experience. The Faire is partly a craft fair, partly historical reenactment and partly performance art. The workers and visitors dress in costumes typical of the late Elizabethan period. Booths sell crafts and food. Parades wind their way through the crowds. Jugglers, musicians, magicians, and other entertainers perform through the day. Your day is spent examining wares, sampling foods, and watching plays and performers.

Storyline shows include the Queen’s Court with Queen Elizabeth 1 welcoming the guests.  A Human Chess event is held with William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlow.  Hear thundering hoof beats as you watch jousting.  Many stage shows are held including Henry the Fifth and Rakish Rogues.

You may dress in your normal attire or wear your own costume. There are also clothing booths where you can rent clothing for the day or buy your own costume. It’s fun to watch all the many types of costumes.

This weekend is full of mystery and mayhem as spooky creatures of every variety haunt the Shire. Join the good Shirefolk of Mount Hope for a grand All Hallows Eve celebration, complete with tricks & treats for children of all ages. Dress in your favorite costume for fun and prizes!

The Rogues will perform the weekend of October 27 as well as other bands.  Magicians, jesters and other children’s performers such as circus acrobats add to all the experience of the faire.

The cost of the trip is $30. for adults and $20. for children  payable at the time of registration.  The cost includes the bus transportation and admission.

Part of the bus trip is being funded by a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Cumberland County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Cumberland County Cultural and Heritage Commission.
