3/7/2013 - Japanese Artifact Display hosted by Library

Cumberland County Library is hosting a display of Japanese artifacts from the collections of Misono Miller of Millville and Lenore Wurtzel of Bridgeton. These items include Japanese dolls, tea cups and tea pot, a wooden flute and an abacus, among other things. These items highlight the recent addition to the library’s collection of 100 Books for Understanding Contemporary Japan, a grant from the Nippon Foundation to advance understanding of Japanese culture. Between 2008 and 2012, a total of 54,071 books were sent to 857 libraries in 115 countries. Cumberland County Library is honored to be part of that number. In an effort to embrace the global society of the 21st century, Cumberland County Library is committed to promoting the cultural heritage of our neighbors, here and abroad.
