Award-Winning Husband-Wife Duo,
Two of a Kind, Presents Family Concert
Two of a Kind, an award-winning husband and wife duo, will appear at the Cumberland County Library on Saturday, June 21 at 1 p.m.
They will perform, “Sing! Bang! Boom!, on the topic of the summer reading program featuring songs and drumming related to reading, books, science, experiments, and fireworks.
TWO OF A KIND delights audiences of all ages with their music, good humor and audience participation.
David and Jenny Heitler-Klevans of TWO OF A KIND love bringing people together and building community through music. Their beautiful harmonies accompanied by David's powerful, rhythmic guitar playing and Jenny's multi-ethnic percussion instruments create magic on stage.
Nationally known the duo specializes in interactive music for children and families with audience participation and varied musical styles, all with a sense of humor and fun.
“Two of a Kind is a one-of-a-kind find!” says Publishers’ Weekly. Two of a Kind presents musical programs for audiences of all ages, including songs, movement, sign language, puppets, and more - all with an emphasis on interaction and participation. Audiences sing and dance to songs. Two of a Kind has released eight recordings, seven of which are for families and children. Two of a Kind’s recordings have won a total of 12 awards including Parents’ Choice, Children’s Music Web and Kids Radio Mania awards. A couple of their songs have won awards in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, the International Songwriting Competition and the Children’s Music Web Awards. David and Jenny have also produced their own “two of a kind”: twin sons named Ari and Jason born in January 1995! Jason and Ari often perform with their parents, making this a truly “family act.”
David taught music to children and adults from 1982 to 1996. David has a degree in Composition from Oberlin Conservatory and has Orff Certification Levels I and II. He was a music specialist in schools in the Philadelphia area for many years and taught music theory at Settlement Music School. Jenny has been singing and dancing all her life. She taught dance at camps and sang in the Anna Crusis Women's Choir for four years. She also teaches music in pre-schools. Jenny has a Master’s degree in Public Health and a background in training, education and creative writing.
