10/8/2020 - Cumberland County Library Presents "Remembering the Ladies: From Patriots in Petticoats to Presidential Candidates"

On Thursday, October 29, at 3 pm, Cumberland County Library will host a free virtual program via Zoom, "Remembering the Ladies: From Patriots in Petticoats to Presidential Candidates."

Author and scholar Carol Simon Levin portrays Abigail Adams — who famously wrote to her husband John asking that the Continental Congress “remember the ladies” when drafting new laws for the new nation. He wrote back that she was “so saucy” and he and the rest of the Congress ignored her pleas completely. “Abigail” then looks forward in time to tell the stories of some of the courageous and tenacious women of all colors and creeds who fought to enhance women’s political participation.

We will be offering the Zoom information for logging into this free program once we are closer to the day of the event. Please watch the Cumberland County Library Facebook page for more information.

Funding has been made possible in part by the New Jersey Historical Commission / Department of State, and the Cumberland County Board of Chosen Freeholders through the Cumberland County Cultural & Heritage Commission.
