Baby and Toddler Time

Story Time

Thursdays, May 1, 8, 15 & 22, 10:30 a.m.

Baby and Toddler Stay & Play!

Monday, May 12, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Children ages 2 and younger and a caregiver are invited for stories, songs and fingerplays followed by a play session with toys provided by the Shirley Eves Center Toy Library! FURever As Friends Reading Program

Monday, May 12, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

LEGO Club

Wednesday, May 28, 6-7 p.m.

Teen Volunteer Meeting

Tuesday, May 6, 6-7 p.m.
Teens ages 13-18 are invited to make a difference at the library while earning volunteer time. Members help to plan events for teens and kids, suggest books for the library, and much more. Registration is required. Registration link: https://forms.gle/je5JHVnxB2HPAcCg9

It’s Real: Teens and Mental Health

Tuesday, May 13, 6-7 p.m.
For teens ages 13-18, this program provides young people with mental health education and resources. The program raises awareness about mental health issues, how to start a conversation about mental health, the importance of self-care, and how to reach out for help.
Attendees will learn:
  • What mental health is and how it's both similar to and different from, physical health
  • How to notice signs of someone needing help
  • Tips and strategies for having a caring conversation with someone they might be worried about
  • Methods of self-care for mind, body, soul, and surroundings
  • Examples of trustworthy resources
  • How reaching out to trusted adults can help teens manage their mental health
This class will be taught by Jaime Angelini, the Statewide Director of Suicide Prevention, Crisis Response and Special Projects at the Mental Health Association in NJ (MHANJ). Jaime is a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor (Adult, Youth and Teen), Suicide Prevention Trainer, Stress First Aid Trainer, Parent Educator, Disaster Response Crisis Counselor and a certified National trainer in Skills for Psychological Recovery (SPR).

Dungeons and Dragons

Tuesday, May 20, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Teens 13-18 are invited to join our Dungeon Master as he leads us through a monthly D & D adventure. Tabletop/role playing experience is not required and new players are welcome. Teen LEGOS and Lemonade

Tuesday, May 27 , 6-7:30 p.m.
Teens ages 13-18 are invited to get creative with our LEGOs and concoct some delicious lemonade! Stop by and build using our large collection of bricks and minifigures. Cumberland County Teens Read!

The Cumberland County Teens Read program is an ongoing challenge designed to foster a love of reading in teens ages 13-18. Teens can earn monthly incentives by logging their time spent reading, writing reviews and/or completing activities using the library’s Beanstack app. For more information, please visit cclnj.org or call the Youth Services Department at (856) 453-2210 Ext. 26105.

ADULT PROGRAMS

QPR - Question, Persuade, Refer “Youth focused" Training for Parents

Monday, May 19, 6-7:30 p.m.
Adults 18 and older are invited to attend this free, evidence-based suicide prevention training. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:
  • Recognize the warning signs of suicide
  • Know how to offer hope
  • Know how to get help and save a life

Yarn & Darn

Thursdays, May 1, 8, 15, 29, 5:30-7:30pm
A weekly drop-in social club for fiber artists of all kinds to work on personal projects, learn from each other, and socialize! Bring your own work-in-progress and have some fun. No registration required, call (856) 453-2210 Ext. 26104 or email joliela@cclnj.org with any questions.

Seedling Swap

Saturday, May 3, 12-2pm
A swap event for those with too many of some seedlings and not enough of others! Seedlings must be in containers, preferably labeled, and participants must bring at least one seedling to swap.
