The Capital Recovery Center, a program of the Cumberland County Department of Human Services, is inviting the public to participate in a virtual remembrance for Black Balloon Day on March 6. The annual observance honors those lost to drug overdoses, raises awareness about substance use, and supports grieving families.
To mark the day, the Center will host an online tribute through its official Facebook page, symbolically “releasing” black balloons in memory of loved ones. Community members are encouraged to submit a photo and brief information about someone they wish to honor, which will be included in the tribute.
Organizers say the event aims to bring people together in remembrance and solidarity while promoting awareness and hope. The initiative reflects Capital Recovery Center’s mission to support individuals and families affected by substance use through peer services, outreach, and community connection.
