Program Development Specialist Community Service
Salary Range $48,417-65,137
DUTIES: Under direction, conducts the field and office work involved in carrying out specific projects in one or more health education programs; does related work as required. Build partnerships with healthcare providers, non-profits, schools, business, and community leaders. Serve as a liaison between the health department and other organizations. Design and deliver health education programs customized to the needs of specific populations. Organize and participate in health fairs, workshops, and presentations. Create educational materials such as brochures, fact sheets, and toolkits. Develop engaging and educational content for social media platforms. Coordinate Overdose Fatality Review (OFR) Team meetings. Prepares reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Oversee the implementation of the strategies and actions outlined in the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). Establishes and maintains essential records and files. Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience. Five (5) years of professional experience in the development of programs designed to solve socio-economic needs of residents of the state and/or local communities which shall have included responsibility for research, negotiation, and/or writing of proposals for community service programs. OR Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience. OR Possession of a master's degree from an accredited college or university with concentration in the field of human or social services. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree preferred. License: Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey.
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of principles and practices of community outreach and engagement as well as health
communication. Knowledge of social media and other digital communication methods. Knowledge
of presentation techniques. Ability to work in collaboration with community partners and team
members. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking, marketing,
and design.
Hours: Thirty-five (35) hour per week; Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
