Confidential Assistant (Unclassified) - Administration
Salary Based on Experience and Credentials
Duties: Under direction, coordinates the activities of the County Administrator. Corresponds with Commissioners and County departments. Prepares clear, sound, accurate, and comprehensive reports, establishes and maintains suitable records and files, and assists with meeting preparation. Prepare statistical or other needed reports. Assists the County Administrator in maintaining communication with federal, state and local agencies and organizations. Demonstrates ability to independently and accurately perform varied, complex administrative secretarial, advanced clerical, and program support functions. Strong computer literacy and proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs. Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the County. Exercises independent judgment and ability to make decisions in accordance with delegated responsibilities. Ensures deadlines are met.
Knowledge and Abilities:
• Expertise in office management, including preparation of minutes, special projects, and related responsibilities.
• Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with members of the governing body, Department Heads, and the public.
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work in situations where numerous diverse demands are involved.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for internal and external communication.
• Knowledge of grant process.
Requirements: Five (5) years of professional experience in a business or government agency providing administrative support services and/or coordinating work activities OR possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university plus one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience.
Note: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester-hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience. "Professional experience" refers to work that is analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range of basic knowledge of the profession's concepts and practices; and is performed with the authority to act and make accurate and informed decisions.
License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
Hours: Thirty-five (35) hours per week; Monday through Friday
