Duties: Under supervision in a treatment facility and/or recovery center (to act as a recovery coach), provides peer-to-peer based support services to (potential) recoverees; encourages abstinence from illicit substances while using motivational approaches to engage the recoveree in receiving services of their choice/need; leverages own lived experience that recovery is possible to persons who are at risk or have a substance use disorder; encourages utilization of services and resources available at the recovery center and community at large; acquaints recoverees' and the community with the resources available to aid in rehabilitation; conducts educational seminars and community meetings as specified; may transport patients to and from outside scheduled appointments; does other related duties as assigned.


Requirements: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS). If not currently certified, must obtain CPRS credentials within two years from date of hire.
One (1) year of experience in a residential or outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation program.
Ability to possess empathetic understanding of the condition and problems of the recoveree.
Knowledge of and ability to practice core competencies for peer workers at all times. Knowledge of problems faced by individuals with a substance use disorder.
Ability to meet and support persons with substance abuse disorder and their relatives.
Knowledge of behavior modification techniques.
Ability to work harmoniously with people.
Ability to utilize various types of electronic office equipment, including documenting encounters in various electronic secure software databases, as well as maintain records and files.
Valid New Jersey Driver’s license.


Hours: Full-time 35 hours per week, with weekend and evening hours required.

Note: Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness screening that includes drug screening.
