ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING AT CUMBERLAND COUNTY COURTHOUSE, APRIL 30, 2026

On April 30, 2026, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting training and drills at the Cumberland County Superior Courthouse. The drill will begin at 7:30am and should be completed by 4:30pm.

During this training there will be no public access to the courthouse or any areas directly around the courthouse. The parking area directly in front of the courthouse doors will be blocked off for the emergency vehicles.

The inside of the courthouse will be the main training area. The state administration will be operating on a virtual day for all the state employees assigned to the courthouse. All court sessions will be held virtually.

There will be active training and drills in the hallways of all floors of the building. This training will include running, yelling, loud noises and simulated gunshot sounds. There will be NO LIVE AMMUNITION used in this training and all gun shots will be simulated.

We would like to thank in advance all our building partners for their cooperation in this important safety training and drill. Being able to complete this full-scale live drill in the building that we work in every day is invaluable and ensures our officers are ready to respond should a live event ever occur.
