NOTICE OF SECOND READING & PUBLIC HEARING ON RESOLUTION
Cumberland County Resolution #2026-290, the title of which is included herein, was introduced and passed upon first reading at a meeting of the governing body of the County of Cumberland, State of New Jersey, on May 26, 2026. It will be further considered for final passage, after a public hearing thereon, at a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners to be held at the Cumberland County Administration Building, 164 West Broad Street, Bridgeton, New Jersey 08302 on July 21, 2026 at 6:00 o’clock p.m. prevailing time at which time and place comments and objections to the Resolution 2026-290 may be presented by members of the public.
During the week prior to and up to and including the date of such meeting, copies of the full resolution will be available at no cost during regular business hours at the Clerk of the Board’s office for the members of the general public who shall request the same. The Resolution will also be made available on the “Public Notices/Legal Notices” page of the Cumberland County website, located at www.cumberlandcountynj.gov.
Title: “RESOLUTION TO INCREASE THE COUNTY TAX LEVY LIMIT TO 3.5% AND TO ESTABLISH A CAP BANK AS PERMITTED BY N.J.S.A. 40A: 4-45.l5B ”
Purpose: To allow the County of Cumberland to increase the limitation on its budget and levy increase from 2.0% to 3.5% over the previous year’s appropriations , subject to certain exceptions, and to retain and “bank” the 3.5% calculation authorized pursuant to the Local Government Cap Law that is not raised as part of the 2026 county tax levy, and as an exception to the county tax levy, in either of the next two succeeding years (2027 and 2028), pursuant to NJSA 40A: 4-45.1 et seq.
