8/13/2010 - Parvin State Park Committee Seeks Volunteers

Parvin State Park Appreciation Committee was organized as a nonprofit organization in April 1983 by concerned citizens who wanted to preserve the history of Parvin State Park and educate the public.

The committee has a board of directors which oversees and approves all aspects of the organization. Members are: Rob Zuest, president, chief executive officer and chairman of the board; Joe Hughes, vice president of operations/maintenance; Frank Connor III, vice president of administration; Heather Ford, treasurer; and Nancy Miles, corporate secretary/public information cfficer.

The committee is one of the most proactive “Officially Recognized Friends Organization” in the State of New Jersey Division of Parks & Forestry. This means the committee signs a Memorandum of Understanding, which requires the organization to create an annual plan, a five-year plan, to submit detailed financial reports and support the Mission of the Division.

The committee's mission statement is: "The Parvin State Park Appreciation Committee was organized to promote the use of the park by the public and to educate visitors on its rich history and to support the park through available funding."

The committee's vision statement is: "The Committee is dedicated to the preservation of the legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and open space & recreational activities of our growing community."

As the state of New Jersey is cutting back its budget to the Department of Environmental Resources- Division of Parks & Forestry, the committee seeks volunteers to continue its mission of dedication to promoting the use of Parvin State Park by the public, educating visitors on the park’s rich history and supporting park projects and maintenance through
available funding.
