This winter heating season, Atlantic City Electric customers who are having difficulty paying their bills are encouraged to seek extra help from one or more of the energy assistance programs listed below: 

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides help with winter energy bills for low-income New Jersey residents. For more information, call 1-800-510-3102 or visit

Universal Service Fund provides year round help with electric bills for low-income New Jersey residents.

New Jersey Lifeline Credit Program provides help for seniors and disabled low-income New Jersey residents. Call 1-800-792-9745.

NJ SHARES provides year round help for New Jersey residents experiencing short-term financial problems who do not qualify for LIHEAP. Call 1-866-657-4273 or visit The following documents should be submitted at time of application:
  • Proof of income (last four consecutive weeks prior to application date)
  • Proof of identification
  • Most recent energy bil
  • Signed application
