This winter heating season, Atlantic City Electric customers who are having difficulty paying their bills are encouraged to seek extra help from one or more of the energy assistance programs listed below: 

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides help with winter energy bills for low-income New Jersey residents. For more information, call 1-800-510-3102 or visit www.energyassistance.nj.gov.

Universal Service Fund provides year round help with electric bills for low-income New Jersey residents.
Call 1-866-240-1347 or visit www.energyassistance.nj.gov.

New Jersey Lifeline Credit Program provides help for seniors and disabled low-income New Jersey residents. Call 1-800-792-9745.

NJ SHARES provides year round help for New Jersey residents experiencing short-term financial problems who do not qualify for LIHEAP. Call 1-866-657-4273 or visit www.njshares.org. The following documents should be submitted at time of application:
  • Proof of income (last four consecutive weeks prior to application date)
  • Proof of identification
  • Most recent energy bil
  • Signed application

Earned Income Tax Credit is a federal and New Jersey state wage supplement that can be claimed on the 2010 tax returns for eligible low-income working families and individuals. Call 211, New Jersey's Non-Emergency Helpline, or the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or online at www.irs.gov.

New Jersey Comfort Partners provides installation of energy efficiency measures, personalized customer energy education and counseling for low-income residents. Call 1-888-773-8326 or visit www.njcleanenergy.com.

Weatherization provides weatherizing for households, improving heating system efficiency and conserving energy. For more information, visit www.energyassistance.nj.gov.
