Public Invited to Envision Future
Preliminary results of Cumberland County’s strategic planning survey will be discussed Tuesday in a special public forum that envisions the needs of the decade to come.
Nearly 500 county residents and business owners have already responded to the survey – a key component of “Cumberland County 2010-2020, The Future is Now” planning initiative.
Tuesday’s event, at Cumberland County College’s Frank Guaracini Jr. Arts Center will give the public an opportunity to hear some of the preliminary results of the survey as well as sharing their ideas in a series of breakout sessions.
The survey, which was released in December, asks respondents to assess challenges facing the county today as well as future opportunities to improve education, develop business, create jobs, and improve the quality of life.
The Strategic Planning Steering Committee hopes participants at Tuesday’s forum will begin to give shape to ideas emerging from the survey.
The ultimate goal is to develop a series of transformational projects that will improve the quality of life and the development of the county over the next decade.
Tuesday’s event at the Guaracini Center will be held between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.
If you are not able to attend, the survey will continue to be available for the foreseeable future to give as many people as possible a chance to share their opinions.
Anyone who has not yet taken the survey can do it either online (click “The Future is Now” link on the county website cumberlandcountynj.gov) or on a hard copy available at local libraries, school facilities, and many other community locations as well as by calling the Cumberland County Planning and Economic Development at 856-453-2211.
