County Fair: Showcasing 4-H Member’s Project Work
The Cumberland County Fair opens Monday, July 4! Over the past year, 4-H club members throughout our county have been preparing for this week. With projects that range from poultry to sewing and horses to gardening, 4-H’ers are excited to show off their achievements to the public.
The variety of 4-H events at the county fair include club exhibits; fun for kids activities; foods & nutrition; sewing; photography and creative arts displays; the chicken and pork BBQ; livestock and small animal judging; horse competitions; family challenge activities; and much, much more! Through preparing and showcasing their talents, these events offer our youth with the exceptional learning experiences needed to build self-confidence and maturity. But most of all, 4-H’ers enjoy entertaining the community that has encouraged them along the way!
According to a teen 4-H member, “The County Fair is a week of fun and friendship. It provides 4-H members with an opportunity to showcase their 4-H project work to the public.”
The 2011 Cumberland County Fair begins on Monday, July 4 and closes on Saturday, July 9. The fair is open from 1:00-11:00 PM on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, the fair is open from 4:00-11:00 PM. For a schedule of 4-H events, County Fair entertainment and activities go to http://www.cumberlandcofair.com.
