Cumberland 4-H’ers Qualify For State 4-H Horse Show

Twenty-one 4-H horse club members will represent Cumberland County at the State 4-H Championship Horse Show, this weekend, August 26-28 at the Horse Park of New Jersey in Stone Tavern.

The New Jersey State 4-H Horse Show is an annual event involving 4-H representatives from all 21 counties competing in the English, Western, Dressage, Driving, Very Small Equine, Challenged Rider and Game Divisions. This show is sponsored in part by the New Jersey Equine Advisory Board as well as by businesses and individuals from throughout the state.

To compete in the state horse show, 4-H members must qualify with their horse by riding in a series of three qualifying shows on the county level. The top two scoring riders in each class are then eligible to take part in the state event.

State 4-H Horse Show participants are Marshall Andersen, Tabitha Camp, Julianna Cipressi, Colleen Curry, Maegan Curry, Nikayla Hetzell, Ashley Jacobs, Heather Koering, Emily Kubrak, Sarah Lamplugh, Brianna Mayhew, Gina Picciano, Hannah Ricci, Rachel Ricci, Renee Sheppard, Austin Smith, Nicole Smith, Olivia Smith, Ireland Styring, Cassidy Wagner and Burgandy Westfield.

County coordinators for this event include Denise Smith for the Dressage and Driving Divisions; Karen Killeen for the English Division; Cyndy Hetzell for the Western and Games Divisions and Kim Andersen for the Challenged Rider Division and Melody Camp for the Very Small Equine Division.

The 4-H Youth Development Program is part of Rutgers Cooperative Extension, a unit of Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station. 4-H educational programs are offered to all youth, grades K-13 (one year out of high school), on an age-appropriate basis, without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
