Road Crews Begin Burlington Road Reconstruction – One of 9 County Roadway Improvements

Road crews are set to begin a major reconstruction project on Bridgeton’s Burlington Road (CR 638) this week – one of nine state funded roadway improvements slated for Cumberland County roads in coming months.
The Burlington Road construction involves new curbing, drainage, milling and overlay on an approximate one-mile section between Rosenhayn Avenue and Irving Avenue. Work is expected to last through much of the fall.
“We know this could be an inconvenience to the people who regularly use Burlington Road,” said Freeholder Tony Surace, Public Works liaison. “But it’s an important project for the long-term. Our goal throughout the process will be to keep the public informed so they know about possible delays and alternate routes.”

Burlington Road and the eight other road improvements are being funded by the NJ Department of Transportation. Total funding is $5.79 million.
