Cultural and History Grant Round Opens, Workshop Scheduled
The Cumberland County Cultural & Heritage Commission has announced the opening of its 2014 re-granting round application process. Grant funds are available to nonprofit organizations and government entities within Cumberland County for cultural and history projects in addition to grant-funded general operating support for nonprofit organizations specializing in cultural and history initiatives.
Supported by block grants from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the New Jersey Historical Commission, the Commission’s re-granting program has $95,000 available for arts programming and $12,000 available for history.
“Our re-grant program often provides the life-blood for many of our most cherished cultural institutions in Cumberland County,” said Ella Boykin, Chairwoman of the Commission. “They are one of the most important aspects of the work we do.”
Applications for the re-granting program are available for download from the Commission’s website at www.ccculturalheritage.org. Paper copies are also available by contacting the Department of Planning at 453-2175.
To assist new and returning organizations in completing the applications, the Commission will be hosting a Grant Writing & Fundraising Workshop on Thursday, September 12th from 6 – 8 PM at Gallery 50, Inc., located at 50 E. Commerce Street in Bridgeton. The workshop will provide hands-on experience in the entire grant writing process and will be led by Matt Pisarski of the Commission and Rachel Dukeman, Managing Director of Plays & Players in Philadelphia and a specialist in cultural fundraising, who will discuss how to use business-oriented metrics to attract funders to your non-profit organization. Registration for this free workshop can be completed through the Commission’s website.
“As liaison to the Commission, every day I see the important work that is accomplished by its staff and volunteer members,” said Freeholder Carl Kirstein. “Cumberland County has some of the most vibrant cultural offerings in the region, and this is due in no small part to the commitment of the Commission.”
The deadline to submit re-grant applications is Friday, October 18th, 2013. Questions regarding any aspect of the application process should be forwarded to Matthew E. Pisarski in the Department of Planning at 453-2175 or via email to mattpi@co.cumberland.nj.us.
