Cumberland County Government Introduces 2015 Budget
Bridgeton, NJ – The Cumberland County Board of Chosen Freeholders unanimously voted to introduce a $130,216,955 Million Budget last night, Tuesday, March 24, 2015. As explained by Chief Financial Officer Gerald Seneski, “The Budget introduction provides notice to the public that the Freeholder Board proposes its budget and schedules a public hearing. The public hearing will provide explanation regarding how the 2015 County Budget was developed and encourage discussion from the public.”
Cumberland County Freeholder Director and Chairman of the Finance Committee, Joe Derella said, “The Freeholder Board will be holding a public hearing strictly for the purpose of discussing the proposed 2015 Budget on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Cumberland County Administration Building located at 790 E. Commerce Street Bridgeton NJ 08302 at 6:00 PM”.
The April 8th Public Hearing will be continued to Thursday April 30, 2015, at that time the public will have the opportunity to provide testimony in response to the April 8 presentation. At the close of the Public Hearing the Freeholder Board is expected to vote on the Budget for final adoption.
Director Derella said, “The Budget is a continuous process. Upon adopting the 2014 Budget, the Freeholder Board directed the Administrative Team to begin work on the 2015 Budget. We were able to trim over $5 million from the projected 2015 spending plan. I look forward to constructive dialogue about the budget process and the budget document. This discussion will include steps taken to achieve the $5 million savings for 2015. I want to thank Freeholder Tom Sheppard and Freeholder Darlene Barber who sit on the finance committee with me. The Finance Committee spent many hours working to get this budget in an acceptable form, ready to present to the citizens of Cumberland County”.
