Cumberland County Freeholders Upgrade 911 System

Cumberland County Freeholder Director Joe Derella announced today that the County’s 9-1-1 Emergency Telephone Call System upgrade is now complete. The system has been upgraded with state of the art technology that will enhance the overall operation of the system.

Director Derella said, “This new system will bring Cumberland County up to speed with the latest technology while improving the functionality of our 911 system. This will replace the current 911 system that is sixteen years old and will provide a more dynamic platform to meet the NextGen 9-1-1 requirements. “

Public Safety Director Edward Conrow, who spearheaded the project, said, “Our primary mission was to improve our level of service while controlling the current costs of maintaining our essential systems”. Director Conrow continued, “We have not only improved our call system, but we will now also have a higher level of support under a five year maintenance and service agreement to help reduce annual costs of maintaining the system.

As a part of the project, we were also able to in incorporate the non- emergency administrative phone system of not only the 9-1-1 Center but also the entire Department of Emergency Service.”
Deputy Freeholder Director and Finance Committee Member Darlene Barber said, “We are very pleased that this important public safety project upgrade was awarded to a Motorola Solutions Company for a cost of $481,799.21 which fell well within the appropriated dollar amount of $500,000 to fund the project.
