Cumberland County Movers and Shakers in
Prime Leadership Positions


Bridgeton, NJ
– What do Cumberland County Sheriff Robert Austino, Cumberland County Director of Workforce Development Allison Spinelli, Cumberland County Freeholder Director Joe Derella, and City of Bridgeton Mayor Albert Kelly all have in common? Each of these individuals serves as President of their Statewide Industry Associations.


Sheriff Austino is the President of the Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey. This group is made up of Sheriffs, County Clerks, Surrogates and Registers of Deeds and Mortgages throughout the State of New Jersey. The Association was organized in 1920.
Allison Spinelli recently became President of the Garden State Employment and Training Association. The organization was formed in response to a statewide need to coordinate the development and implementation of state, regional and national workforce policies. It serves as clearinghouse on workforce matters and issues. It has functioned as a forum for New Jersey’s workforce development professionals to share their expertise and to promote professional development. Their mission is to provide leadership, and promote quality and excellence for the advancement of New Jersey’s workforce development system and its customers and professionals. This organization was founded in 1975.


Cumberland County Freeholder Director Joseph Derella serves as the President of the Southern New Jersey Freeholder Association. This Association is made up of the eight southern Counties including Ocean, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland Cape May and Atlantic. Members of this Association share ideas, problem solve and use their collective voice to lobby Trenton on key issues that impact Southern New Jersey. The organization has been established for more than 30 years.


City of Bridgeton Mayor Albert Kelly serves as President of the New Jersey League of Municipalities. This organization is a voluntary Association created to help communities do a better job of self -government through pooling information resources and brain power. It is authorized by State Statute since 1915. It represents 560 Mayors and 13,000 elected and appointment officials throughout New Jersey.
Deputy Freeholder Director Darlene Barber said “It is very exciting to see that Cumberland County is well positioned at a State level to advocate for the issues that impact Southern New Jersey. These outstanding leaders have put the County in the driver’s seat and we are very proud and appreciative of the hard work and dedication that they put forth everyday on behalf of the citizens of Cumberland County.”
