6/8/2020 - Cumberland County COVID-19 Testing Clinic to Open at Bridgeton Riverfront Plaza

Cumberland County, NJ (June 8, 2020) The Cumberland County Health Department is collaborating with CompleteCare Health Network and the City of Vineland Health Department to provide walk-up COVID-19 testing on June 12, 19 and 26, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Bridgeton’s downtown Riverfront Plaza. Testing will be available for individuals exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms as well as those who have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

“While we are accepting walk-ins we are encouraging those seeking testing to register online using the Request an Appointment Page of CompleteCare’s website, www.CompleteCareNJ.org (www.completecarenj.org/request-an-appointment/) or call 856-451-4700,” stated CompleteCare President and CEO, Curtis Edwards. “Those who preregister with CompleteCare will be screened for eligibility through a telehealth consultation. Once approved for testing, those who pre-register will be able to bypass the onsite registration process,” added Edwards. “Walk-ins who have not pre-registered will be screened for testing eligibility at the site, but may have a longer wait time once testing is approved,” explained Edwards. Everyone seeking to be tested will be required to present identification and, if insured, their insurance information, including Medicare or Medicaid, although no co-pays will be required. However, Edwards emphasized, “Everyone who meets the criteria to be tested will be tested whether or not they have insurance.”

Only CompleteCare Health Network patients and Cumberland County residents will be able to be tested. First responders who are residents of Cumberland County or CompleteCare patients will be given priority testing.

CompleteCare is not testing patients for COVID-19 at its health centers. Please do not come to any health center locations or the health department for testing or if you think you have coronavirus.

The Cumberland County Department of Health, Vineland Health Department, and CompleteCare Health Network will work to ensure people are informed of their results in a timely manner. Guidance for anyone testing positive continues to be remain at home under self-isolation and relieve symptoms with over-the-counter medications, as needed. If symptoms worsen, individuals should immediately contact their doctor or go to the closest hospital if necessary – being sure to call before going. If you have emergency warning signs such as trouble breathing, persistent chest pain, new confusion or inability to arouse, bluish lips or face, please get medical attention immediately – call 911 if you have a medical emergency.

Bridgeton Mayor Albert Kelly praised the walk-up testing initiative stating, “This testing site will provide needed COVID-19 testing services to many of our area residents who cannot travel to other testing locations because they do not have transportation or financial means.” The testing site will occupy two pavilions in Bridgeton’s conveniently located downtown Riverfront Plaza. For those driving to the riverfront for testing services, one-way vehicle entrance access will be provided off Route 49 next to the former Angie’s Diner. Parking is available at the park with a one-way vehicle exit onto Commerce Street. “Although this location was selected due its accessibility for people without transportation, it is also extremely accessible for people coming to the site by car,” stated Mayor Kelly.

Cumberland County Freeholder Director Joseph Derella cited the Bridgeton testing site as another example of the cooperative spirit that has characterized the County’s response to COVID-19. “This testing site will conveniently service not only Bridgeton residents, but the entire western side of Cumberland County and would not have been possible without the hard work of CompleteCare, Cumberland County Government including OEM and Sheriff’s Department, Cumberland County Department of Health, Vineland Health Department, and the City of Bridgeton including the Police Department.” Director Derella concluded, “Our County has been remarkably successful in avoiding the worst impacts of COVID-19 seen in other parts of New Jersey. Bringing no-cost testing to Bridgeton is an important part of our continuing fight to halt the spread of COVID-19.”
