8/21/2020 - County Library Hosts Staff Wellness Day
The Cumberland County Library Commission voted to hold a Staff Wellness Afternoon on Tuesday, August 18. The library closed at noon on that day with lunch provided by the Library Commission. Cumberland County Director of Training and Development, Dr. Cindy Hickman, presented a wellness seminar on personal wellness and how it affects a person's work life. Additionally, Brittany Witta, Cumberland County Employee Benefits Manager, provided a presentation on employee benefits related to health and wellness. The staff also took a ten-minute yoga break or walk around the library complex. The day concluded with a tree planting in front of what is now the new main entrance to the library. The tress was the Library Commission's gift of caring to the staff.
The day was organized because the Commission wanted to provide support for the staff during this "new normal" for work at the library. The Commission wanted to acknowledge the changes of working from home, then transitioning to working in-person at the library and then dealing with all the changes for allowing patrons back into the library. It has been a challenge and the Commission appreciates the staff's flexibility and service to the residents of Cumberland County.
