What is a Disaster Response Counselor?

- A volunteer who becomes part of an Emergency Response Network and responds to the needs of the community after a disaster or some other traumatic event strikes. You can become trained and certified in disaster response and behavioral health and crisis counseling and no clinical background is needed. DRCC does not provide traditional mental health services. It is more providing support and linkage to resources during a time of crisis. 

OPENINGS ARE LIMITED. CUMBERLAND COUNTY RESIDENTS RECEIVE PREFERENTIAL REGISTRATION.

Out-of-county registrants will be notified ASAP if there is availability. 

  • Monday, August 5, 2024  9:00am - 4:00pm - Introduction to Disaster Response
  • Tuesday, August 6, 2024 9:00am - 4:00pm - Psychological First Aid
  • Wednesday, August 7, 2024 9:00am - 4:00pm - Culture and Ethics

New participants must attend all three days in order to continue with the certification process. Existing DRCC's can earn up to six (6) renewal credits.
