BRIDGETON
– On Saturday, December 14,
volunteers will place holiday wreaths to honor and remember Cumberland County
Veterans at the Cumberland County Veterans’ Cemetery as part of their annual
“Wreaths of Remembrance” event.
Each year, through the
generous donation of wreaths by the Vineland Rotary Club, and support from the
Cumberland County Board of Commissioners, wreaths will be placed as a tribute
to our County Veterans. Volunteers who wish to assist with preparing the wreaths
may arrive at the cemetery at 0900. The program will begin at 0930 and conclude
after all wreaths are placed.
Cumberland County
Commissioner Liaison to the County Department of Veterans Affairs, Joseph
Sileo, stated, “This event is sacred as we honor the many veterans from our
County who have served in the military.
It is our small way of thanking them for their honor, courage and
sacrifices made for our great nation.”
Since its establishment in
1999 and consecration in 2000, the Veterans’ Cemetery has become the final
resting place to more than 1400 veterans, their spouses and dependents. The
placing of the Wreaths of Remembrance is just one more way that our County
demonstrates their gratitude for those who have served in our armed forces
across generations.
The Cumberland County
Veterans’ Cemetery is located at 133 Trench Road, Hopewell Township. Any questions regarding this ceremony should
be directed to the Cumberland County Department of Veterans Affairs at
856-238-6800.
